Julian Pistorius is standing for Libertarianz in the Mt Albert by-election. If you don’t believe that the government should be allowed to steal and bulldoze your house for a motorway, Julian is the only person to vote for.

Says Julian: “Regulations in New Zealand now make it easier to bulldoze family homes, than to touch ‘green’ areas. Plants and puddles are now more important than people. It is time to put individuals and their property rights first. That is what a free and prosperous society is based on.”

“It is obvious that without the Resource Management Act (which all but prohibits touching mangrove swamps and minor creeks), the NZTA could be more creative when planning motorway routes. And to protect property rights, the Public Works Act - which allows them to steal people’s homes - should be scrapped.”

Your ownership of your own body is your most fundamental right. Your body is your own to look after or to abuse. Likewise your health care is your own responsibility. Libertarianz health policy recognises this.

Forcing someone to subsidise another’s health care costs is wrong. Taxpayer funding of health care also serves as an excuse for all sorts of further nannying. If the state carries the cost of your mountain climbing or pie eating it will be naturally inclined to boss you around while you’re doing those things.

Libertarianz health spokesman, Dr Richard McGrath, explains the Party’s health policy and outlines a transitional policy which will see those goals realised over five years.

The show’s topic was “Armed forces, does the public have the right to see what firearms the police are carrying and how successful where the police taser trials?”

Libertarianz leader Bernard Darnton has some thoughts for those eager to vote Labour out of office. He’s keen to see the back of Helen Clark but not so keen to see the front of John Key.

“Susan the Libertarian”, famous to Leighton Smith’s listeners, was Master of Ceremonies at the Libertarianz party conference. Before getting the show under way, she had to vent over the constant interruptions to Coronation Street.

At last weekend’s Libertarianz conference, party president Craig Milmine asked what the alternative to the current Labour government might be. Here’s how he rates National.

While National was quibbling about its leadership and Rodney Hide was dancing with the stars, Libertarianz leader Bernard Darnton was in the High Court suing Helen Clark and others for ripping off the public purse to pay for Labour’s propaganda.

The ensuing furore inspired some wag to remake the Rolling Stones classic.
